4 Ways to Stay Focused and Motivated During Summer OR When Away From Home Share this...FacebookPinterestTwitterLinkedin Let’s talk summer! I’m sure that many of you reading right now are like me – Spending your days at the beach, laying by the pool, or enjoying a much-needed vacation. That leaves us with a big question, though – How can we enjoy the summer in all its’ warm, sunny goodness but still be able to get all of our work done? I’ll be the first to admit that it can be really hard to balance a busy work life AND be a present parent, but I’ve found 4 ways that help me stay focused and motivated throughout these beautiful summer days! 1.) Goals, Goals, Goals. I am very much into goal setting and always tell my team that until your goal is written down, it means nothing. Zip, zilch, nada. Once you do so, I think you’ll find that you’re much better able to focus on what you need to do to get where you want to be. I like to set two types of goals regularly; a small, bite-sized weekly goal and a big, broad monthly goal. For me, having them down on paper really paints a much clearer picture of what I want to achieve and how I plan on getting there. 2.) Set hours of operation. This is a big one for me. I always make sure to set time aside where I will NOT be working, and this has become instrumental in me being a more hands-on mom and wife. With today’s technology, we can be reached at virtually any point and time. I carve out times throughout the day where I am available for my girls and Jordan – No phones, no computer. Spending uninterrupted time together is really important for us as a family. 3.) Put processes in place so that you can run your business from anywhere. This year alone, I’ve had the opportunity to work from London, Mexico City, and Raleigh. In this digital world that we live in, physical location should not inhibit you from completing your work. It’s important to have systems in place so that your business is able to run virtually. If you’re not yet at a point where you feel that you can run 99% of your business from a Wifi connection, then you should definitely consider doing some research about how you can change that. Just a few small tweaks can really make a world of difference; It can be as simple downloading some new apps. Some of the ones that I find really helpful when working on-the-go are Google Drive, Facebook Messenger, and Word Swag. 4.) Have an accountability partner. I really truly believe that in order to be successful, you can’t do it alone. Power partners are vital to staying focused and on task. For me, they are my husband and my sister. I can’t always do everything myself, so it’s really helpful to have them as sounding boards and sources of support. Most of the time, we won’t hold ourselves accountable – it’s just human nature, plain and simple. If you don’t already have one, go out TODAY and find an accountability partner; Someone who challenges and motivates you to be the best that you can be, both as a person and in your business. I think you’ll be amazed at what a difference it can make! If you’ve found yourself struggling to pay proper attention to both your business AND your loved ones during the summertime, try taking these 4 actions. It’s a fine balance, yes, but it can be done – I promise! I hope that my tips have helped. I also want to take a moment to give a huge shout out to all of the women out there hustling, working hard, trying to help their families, and showing their children what hard work looks like. I have the utmost respect for you. Collectively, you are all truly making the world a better place.
